Birthday Pictures

Go Zippy!! Go Zippy!! It's Your Birthday!!

Hello, my peeps.

I'm celebrating my first birthday today. I'd like to give a shout out to my brother Smoke back in Illinois. Happy birthday, Smoke!!

For a birthday treat, I got a cupcake. You'll see in the pictures that it was there, and then it wasn't!! I never get people food, except for the cheese they give me with Benadryl in there for my allergies.

Anyways, here's a video of me playing catch.

I can't hear the sound, but I think this video has the lil' monster pointing out a pile of poop I just dropped in the front yard.

Gotta go lick my balls.

SPRING!!!

What up, bitches.

We've finally had some nice weather around here. I've been spending a lot of time outside. I've ruined the trees, so I'm running out of stuff to do. My master replaced the lattice on the deck (the stuff that I tore up), and replaced it with some plastic lattice. He thinks that will keep me from ruining it. I'll prove him wrong.

Anyways, the cool master got me a new ball. It even glows in the dark!! It's pretty cool. My tongue was dragging yesterday as we played. We sure have been waiting for weather like this!!
Here's some more pictures.

Waiting for Schmuck to come out of the "dead" treeline.

What tree?

Going for the Great Dane look. Me and my shiny orange ball.

I Have Wood

What's up, my peeps?

I have to tell you this quick story. It has to be quick because the littlest monster is eating, and I know if I hang around under the table I'll be able to get me some chow.

Remember in one of my previous posts I was telling you I had to go so I could chew on some low branches of the trees in the yard? Well, today I had a bit of a mishap. I had just mauled one of the trees, and I was chewing away on this branch. This fu?king branch becomes lodged in the top of my mouth between my teeth. Yo mate, I couldn't get that sh?t out of there for the life of me. I had to walk around the house like a freaking dummy acting all weird and crap before the momma monster decided to check me out. We all know where this story is going, don't we. She's not the sharpest of claws, if you know what I mean, so she calls in the dad. At least now I know I'm going to get some relief. Only thing is he walks away!!! So I have the momma monster pinning me down, and this dude just walks away. He came back with a pair of freaking pliers!! I f?ck you not!! So he sticks those damn things into my gullet and pulls out this branch from inbetween my teeth. Man, I was glad to have it out of there.

Here's the pic as proof.

Talk to you all later. I have to go roll in the mud outside as payback for shoving pliers down my throat.

You are all my bitches!!!!

Freedom

Hello again, Chumps. It's Zippy again. I need to tell you about this new collar my keepers got me. They were tired of chasing me down the street everytime the smalleset monster let me out without a leash, so they had some dude com ein and dig around the yard. Now when I go towards the barrier I get Zapped. I'm not a stupid dog, so I've caught on pretty fast. Going back to my keepers, it was hilarious watching those fat asses try and catch me. One time I took them behind their house and across the street (we'll leave out the part of me almost getting hit by a car....she was going too fast anyways). So I'm out in the field with my ass in the air and nose to the ground hunting and sh?t, and they are huffing and puffing behind me trying to catch me. They were begging!!!!! "Please, Zippy. Please stop." Funny stuff.

Anyways, back to my original story. I was outside with the only cool keeper I have, the dad of the bunch. Anyways, he's trying to teach me to catch a pass like in football. So we're out playing and the mailman drives by. Better yet, he stops!!!! I thought this was some cool sh?t, so I was nice to him. Hell, he even gave me a treat. About 5 minutes later, the dude in the big brown truck drives up......and he has STEAKS!!!!!! Man, I could smell those ribeyes in that package. He was a pretty cool dude, and threw the ball for me a few times. The male keeper muttered soemthing like it would have been better if it was a hot looking dame. I'm the one with my nuts chopped off!!! How about a bitch for me?

Anyways, I gotta say this fence is working out great. Gotta run. There are still a few low branches on the front tree that I have not chewed off yet.

PS What's with the pic of the dude next to this?

A Day Called Christmas

Hello, all. Zippy here. I need to tell you about this crazy ass day I had the other day. For some reason, I was rustled out of bed early to go downstairs and watch those two monsters open presents. You know who the two monsters are, don't you? The ones that dressed me up in that stupid Mickey Mouse costume and harass me all day. Anyways, it turns out I got some presents too. That stupid, big female monster, I think she is the mother, put a wrapped object in front of my face and told me to open it. Like I knew what the hell I was doing!!! I'm 8 months old, Lady!! Anyways, I'm thinking there may be some good food or something in there, so I decide to open it. I was even hoping there may be some bitch in there for me so I don't have to hump my sleeping bag anymore. Anyways, what do these stupid people get me? A freaking pink elephant. They're all clapping and cheering and sh?t, and I'm just pissed. I mean, come on, a pink elephant. So they started to unwrap other presents and left me to myself. So I tore into the elephant, and I chewed her ass off. then I chewed off her face. They weren't even done opening presents yet and I had devoured her. That will teach them.

Zappy

Hello from Pennsylvania.

Zippy likes his new home. We have open space behind us and across the street. Zippy has gotten away from us on many occassions, so he normally heads back there. The open space has really tall grass, and sometimes you can see deer back there and hawks circiling above hunting. Zippy thinks he's a big time hunter when he gets back there, so he's hard to catch. I thought we were going to have to chase him to Ohio once. Anyways, on one of his trips out he almost got whacked by a car. Almost being inches. He was crossing the street from one open space to another. Ainsley has a tendency to let him out, and he always seems to get away from Jenna. We thought long and hard about getting an invisible fence, and had decided to put it off until the spring. Long story short, we decided to get one because we wanted Zippy to have some freedom and, most importantly, be safe. It was installed on Thursday and Zippy is doing great. He honestly seems much happier to be out in the yard playing with the kids without being tied down. He doesn't go near the yard line, so he is already learning his boundary. Here's a picture of him lounging around.

No snow yet, much to our disappointment. We are all anxious to see how Zippy likes it.

Merry Christmas, ya'all.

Care Package for Zippy

Today I received my medicine via UPS from Heather. I was surprised to see how much stuff was in there for the Zipster. He had a bone, treats, and another bone. Here he is trying to handle his new "chew". Yum. A meaty center. This will keep him occupied all night. Posted by Picasa

Welcome to Pennsylvania, Zippy

Wow. It's been a long time since this has been updated.

Zippy and I made the two day trek to Pennsylvania on a Sunday and Monday. He was good in the car, but he had a hard time getting comfortable because he's getting so big. He didn't whine or anything, so that was good.

The first night in a hotel, he snored pretty bad. It was just like being in bed with Heather!! Anyways, he has done very well in our little suite we have been calling home. He spends the day in a crate, so he is excited when I come home. He has tons of energy, so I play ball with him. He loves to chase it up onto the bed and dive into the pillows. When I let him out, we "trot" to the pet walking area at a pretty good clip because he has to piss and shit so bad. It's kind of funny to see him heading that way so fast.

Here's a pic of his first night in our suite. He's reading.

Two Brothers Slide Show

Two Brothers

My brother Jeff is on vacation, so we are watching Smoke for 9 days. Unfortunately, Smoke and Zippy seem to fight most of the time. I thought they would have gotten over that by now. It's gotten a lot better, so let's hope it continues to improve.

We are having a BBQ and card party today/tonight, so the dogs will not be lacking in attention. There will be a lot of kids here to keep them occupied. They should sleep good tonight.

Here's some more pictures.

A New Toy

Here's Zippy finding a new toy and figuring out how to bark. The toy squeeks, so he didn't know what to make of it.

Three days with Zippy

It's been a busy three days. Zippy is getting used to his new home, and we are getting used to him.

Zippy didn't do too bad the first day. He pees a lot!! It's not unusual for him to go twice outside, come inside, take three gulps of water, walk three steps, and pee again. He cried the first night, and Heather had a hard time getting to sleep.

I stayed with him the second day. We went to go see the neighbors so he could be introduced to their dog Max. He tuckers out pretty quickly, so when we came home he took a nap. The second night, Heather put a CD in by his crate and had it on repeat all night. He didn't make a sound until 5:30, which is when he usually wakes up. When I got up with him, I took him outside to do his business. We walked into the back yard, and Schmuck, my cat, followed us. We took a short walk down the street, and, sure enough, Schmuck followed us again. He must be feeling left out.

The girls decided to get up with Zippy once do take the morning potty job. Here's a picture of their three butts as Zippy looks for the perfect spot. They look so funny out in their PJ's w/ their dog so early in the morning.

We took Zippy to see his brother, Smoke, at my brother's house. They got along ok, but soon started to roughhouse. Smoke decided he was tired, but Zippy wouldn't leave him alone. In the end, they ended up sleeping by each other.

For the second night in a row, Zippy went all night w/o crying, so he is doing better.

But you can call him Zippy.

Now that we had picked out a dog, we had to name him. We thought we would wait until we had him at home for a few days to see if we could name him something based on his personality. The following day, which was the same day Heather went puppy shopping, I thought of the name Chump. We use chump a lot at work, and it has taken on special meaning. I thought it would be a funny name. Heather didn't seem to mind it too much, but Jenna did not like it all at all. When I came home from work the afternoon, the kids and Heather were outside playing. I went downstairs to work on homework while they played. Jenna came and got me and told me I had to come outside. I thought something was wrong, but it was nothing. Heather was excited because she had thought of a name that we could all live with; Zippy. Of course, Zippy is the nickname of Tony Stewart's crew chief (his last name is Zipadelli). I thought it was clever, but still liked Chump better. I knew I would never win Jenna over, so Zippy it was. However, his official name is Sir Zipadelli Stanley Chump of the Pruski clan of Leland.

But you can call him Zippy.

Which one do you like?

Since we had already thrown away the Fox valley Shopper, I called my mom and asked her to look in the pets section. Sure enough, there were two ads for lab puppies. One sounded like it was geared more towards show dogs, so we went with the other one. I wrote down all the information and gave it to Heather. Seconds after hanging up the phone, she was calling about the puppies. It turns out that Heather knew the family. All of the female dogs were spoken for, but there were 3 males to choose from. We quickly piled the family into the car and drove over there.
When we got there, we were taken downstairs to see the puppies. There were two yellow labs still available, and one black. There was also a chocolate lab and another yellow lab, but those were being kept by the two breeders.
We took the dogs outside to play, as we tried to choose which one we wanted. Heather was interested in the black puppy, while I was interested in a yellow. Black labs seem to be everywhere, so I wanted something a little different. While she played with the black lab, a yellow pup started to follow me around. Whenever I squatted down, he would come and lay underneath me. He chewed on my fingers and my shoe strings. Although he was probably just following me because my big ass provided lots of shade, I decided that I had found my companion. I could tell Heather wanted the black lab, but she thought the one I had picked was cute, too. Heather took a few pictures, paid for him, and we were off. It would be about 2 weeks before he is old enough for us to take him home.

I want a dog

That statement seems simple enough. Heather and I have said that over the past 9 years, but it never meant anything...until now.

We have always talked about getting a dog, but it was never more than a passing comment; something to think about for a few seconds, and then move on. Recently, the, "I want a dog" comment was starting to get a little more attention. For whatever reason, after years of it meaning absolutely nothing, it turned into a want that had to be fullfilled. I can't explain how this happened. For me, it may have been the fact that I read Marley and Me, a book about a yellow lab. Ok. I didn't read it. I listened to it on my iPod, but it's all the same. Anyways, I liked the book. It wasn't so much about having a dog as having a companion. For some reason, I thought it would be great to have a loyal companion that I could share life's trivialities with. But in the end, I thought the dog could bring more value to the family. I hate to use that old cliche "more value" like the family is a business, but I can't describe it any other way. Wouldn't a dog bring us closer together in some ways? Would it be a good tool to teach Jenna responsibility? Would we go on camping trips or trips to the lake to watch the dog swim? Would we ever consider going on trips like that if not for a dog to motivate us, or to bring us together?

As I reflected on all this, I thought it was pretty unfair to the poor dog. We don't even have one picked out yet, and I'm counting on it to teach my daughter responsibility and to bring us uncountable happy family moments that my children would cherish for the rest of their lives.

In the end, I think having a dog will do all of those things. Most importantly, we wanted to add another member to our family. Heather and I decided on a Sunday that we would seriously look into getting a dog.

After 9 years of saying it, we really meant it this time when we said, "I want a dog."
