Swollen Ear

We woke up on Saturday to find Zippy had an ear that was slightly swollen. A quick search of google and we found that he probably had a hematoma. We scheduled an appointment with the vet, and took him in. They said he gets it from flopping his head around. We clean his ears on a regular basis, and the doctor didn't find anything in there when she looked. Since it was early, they are going to wait to see if he has to have surgery to fix it. They did give him some anti-inflammatory drops. Today, the ear is already looking better. We are going to ensure he gets Benadryl every day, at least once, for his allergies. We had been giving them to him as needed for his eyes. The doctor said his eyes are only one symptom, so we should give him medicine everyday. She also cautioned that it will only get worse, and the labs are known for having terrible allergies. That was news to me.

Zippy does not seem to be in any discomfort. We are hoping he will be able to heal this himself.
